1 Raja-raja 1:52

1:52 Solomon said, “If he is a loyal subject, ¹  not a hair of his head will be harmed, but if he is found to be a traitor, ²  he will die.”

1 Raja-raja 12:6

12:6 King Rehoboam consulted with the older advisers who had served ³  his father Solomon when he had been alive. He asked them, ⁴  “How do you advise me to answer these people?”

1 Raja-raja 20:40

20:40 Well, it just so happened that while your servant was doing this and that, he disappeared.” The king of Israel said to him, “Your punishment is already determined by your own testimony.” ⁵ 

[1:52]  ¹ tn Heb “if he is a man of strength [or ability].” In this context, where Adonijah calls himself a “servant,” implying allegiance to the new king, the phrase אִישׁ חַיִל (’ish khayil) probably carries the sense of “a worthy man,” that is, “loyal” (see HALOT 311 s.v. חַיִל).
